Welcome to the German Pavilion at Gulfood 2012
Within the German Pavilion at Gulfood 2012 in Dubai, more than 90 German exhibitors are presenting on nearly 2,000 sqm their products and services for commercial kitchen equipment, catering technology, the food processing and packaging industry, ingredients, as well as current trends.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) are one of the most important and promising markets for the German manufacturers of food processing and packaging machinery in the Near and Middle East Region. The food industry of the UAE is developing positively. The country's government is endeavouring to further expand the food processing industry and has invested much in this industry in the last few years. Not only should the industry meet the needs of the country's own population, the food stuff produced in the country should also be exported to regional countries.
High population growth, a young population and rising disposable incomes are causing the demand for high-quality and packaged food to continue to grow. The growing spread of modern retail structures, also outside city centres, is also increasing demand for high-quality and modern packaged food and beverages and, along with this, modern processing and packaging machines.
The rising demand is reflected in the continuously rising import figures for state-of-the-art food processing and packaging machinery. In 2010 the import of food processing and packaging machinery of the United Arab Emirates reached a volume of 171 mio. Euros. Germany is the most important trading partner for this kind of machinery with a market share of 20 percent (35 mio. Euros). Within the first ten months of 2011 the export of German food processing and packaging machinery reached a volume of 32 mio. Euros, a plus of nine percent in comparison to the same period of the previous year.
As tourism and business travel are largely increasing in the long term, there is also an increased amount of investment in commercial buildings as well as infrastructure in Dubai and the UAE as a whole. Special emphasis lies on the development of the hotel and catering sector which is one of the most growth-intensive sectors in the region. At present, many projects in this field are already being realized and it is safe to assume that due to the positive investment climate there will be many chances for producers of commercial kitchen and catering equipment in the future.
Commercial kitchen and catering equipment are products which need to be explained and presented to the customer on location. The Gulfood therefore represents a chance for German producers, who are mainly medium-sized enterprises, to present their products within a trade fair which has a high importance for the entire region and to gain access to a promising and highly dynamic market.
Visiting the German Pavilion at Gulfood 2012 will afford the companies an excellent opportunity to meet the leading German manufacturers and supplier of commercial kitchen equipment and catering technology, food processing and packaging machinery and to learn about the latest trends and developments.
